Exactly the right spectral energy distribution curves for your plants
More reliable than the sun
The
advantage of HPS lamps is that they enable your plants to thrive in greenhouses
or in rooms completely without daylight (for example in a laboratory)
independent of the seasons. HPS is the most widely used method of lighting in
horticulture, as it is the most crop yielding solution for almost all culture
types. The investment in lamps and ballasts pays itself off very quickly.
How long do photoperiodical plants require light?
Most plants thrive best when they are exposed to 16-18 hours of light. Plants which react to time periods should be exposed to 12-14 hours of light and left 10-12 hours standing in the dark. E.g. Roses, poinsettias, chrisantemums, petunias and gladioli. Which photosynthetic spectrums does my light require?
Blue light (380-480 nm)
Helps
plants to stay compact and in shape and the growth of green plant parts
is accelerated. It promotes photosynthesis and drives plant tips to
grow in the direction of the lamp (phototropism). It is most effective
in spring and summer.
Yellow-Red light (550-680 nm)
Stimulates
the reproduction of blossoms and fruits. Blossoms and fruit formation
are enhanced, therefore its effect is most important in autumn and
throughout other harvest months.
